Description

A comforting and hearty one-skillet meal, this Ground Beef and Potato Skillet is packed with flavor and perfect for busy weeknights. Savory ground beef, tender potatoes, and a rich, seasoned broth come together in a simple yet satisfying dish. Serve it as is or with a side of crusty bread for a complete meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, diced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Stir in the diced potatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the potatoes are cooked through, taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a dash of smoked paprika or a sprinkle of shredded cheese before serving.
  • Make it heartier by stirring in a handful of frozen peas or corn during the last 5 minutes of cooking.
  • Use a cast-iron skillet for the best caramelization on the beef and potatoes.
  • Leftovers? Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat.
