Description

Indulge in this savory and satisfying Ground Beef Orzo with Tomato Cream Sauce! Tender ground beef and orzo pasta are simmered in a rich, creamy tomato sauce, creating a comforting one-pan meal that’s quick to prepare and full of flavor. Perfect for busy weeknights or cozy family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)

Instructions

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juices), heavy cream, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Add the orzo pasta to the skillet, stirring to combine. Cover and cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and has absorbed most of the sauce, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the orzo is cooked, remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with grated Parmesan cheese on top.

Notes

  • For added flavor, use fire-roasted diced tomatoes or add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little heat.
  • Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Serve with a side of garlic bread and a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
