Description

This hearty Philly Cheesesteak Casserole transforms the classic Philadelphia sandwich into a comforting family-style dish. Loaded with tender ground beef, sautéed vegetables, and a rich blend of melted cheeses over egg noodles, this casserole delivers all the beloved flavors of a Philly cheesesteak in an easy-to-serve format that’s perfect for weeknight dinners or feeding a crowd.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add the sliced onion, green bell pepper, and mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  5. Meanwhile, cook the egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked noodles, beef and vegetable mixture, beef broth, cream cheese, and half of the provolone and mozzarella cheeses. Mix until well combined.
  7. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Top with the remaining provolone and mozzarella cheeses.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For extra authenticity, you can substitute thinly sliced ribeye steak for the ground beef. The casserole can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking – just add an extra 10-15 minutes to the cooking time if baking from cold. Leftovers keep well in the refrigerator for 3-4 days and reheat beautifully in the microwave.
